Snap a photo of what it looks like to you and send it our way for a chance to:Win a cash prize, have your work framed and displayed in a gallery exhibit at Wayne Community College among photographs from Snapshot: Climate, and attend the gallery opening alongside scholars, other artists, and more.
About the Project:The journal Southern Cultures recently published an issue called “Snapshot: Climate”, which showcases photographs of climate change from around the American southeast. The issue highlights the diverse ways that climate change is impacting the communities and landscapes of the region.With generous support from the North Caroliniana Society, Wayne Community College and Carolina Public Humanities are working with Southern Cultures to bring a gallery show of photographs from the issue to Goldsboro, where they will be exhibited alongside images of what climate change looks like in Wayne County. If you’re interested in getting a free copy of the “Snapshot: Climate” issue – or if you are a teacher interested in using these materials in the classroom – please contact Nathan Johnson at [email protected].This photo exhibit has already been shown at: Center for the Study of the American South, UNC, Chapel Hill, NC

PHOTO CONTEST RULES:Who is eligible to participate?Those affiliated with Wayne Community College and members of the Wayne County greater public.Submission Requirements:Up to 3 original photographs that portray climate change through your eyes.
Image files should follow the following specifications: TIFFs, CMYK, 300dpi, at least 7” wide.

An artist’s statement of 250-400 words that explains the story that your photograph(s) captures.
Submissions Due:Feb. 28Winners Receive:First Place (1): One first-place winner will receive $175 cash prize, and have their framed photo displayed in the gallery alongside photos from Southern Cultures.Runners-up (2): Two runners up will receive $100 cash prizes and have their framed photos displayed in the gallery alongside photos from Southern Cultures.Honorable Mentions (3): Three honorable-mention winners will have their framed photos displayed in the gallery alongside photos from Southern Cultures.All six photographers will be able to take their framed images home after the show has concluded. They will also have an opportunity to speak at the gallery opening if they are interested!
