The Indian government has taken a major step towards promoting renewable energy by approving a 2,000 MW solar park project in Rajasthan. This project, which will receive 30% central financial assistance, is expected to transform the state into a renewable energy powerhouse.
The announcement was made by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi at the ‘Rising Rajasthan: Transition towards a Sustainable Energy Economy’ Summit held in Jaipur. Minister Joshi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the central government and stakeholders in order to boost the renewable energy sector. Rajasthan, which currently leads in solar power with a capacity of 24.55 GW, has shown its commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity.
This initiative is in line with Rajasthan’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to achieve 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This supports the national goal of reaching 500 GW of renewable energy capacity. Minister Joshi also urged for the swift implementation of key initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and the state’s Green Hydrogen Policy.
This announcement is a significant development for the renewable energy sector in India, as it not only showcases the government’s commitment to promoting clean energy but also has the potential to create job opportunities and boost economic growth. With Rajasthan’s strong focus on renewable energy, it is expected to become a leading state in this sector and contribute significantly towards achieving the country’s renewable energy goals.
The approval of the 2,000 MW solar park project in Rajasthan is a positive step towards reducing India’s dependence on fossil fuels and promoting sustainable development. It is also a testament to the government’s efforts to combat climate change and promote a greener future for the country.
