COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan was a game-changing event for global climate policy, with a focus on renewable energy and addressing loss and damage caused by climate change. The establishment of a global climate fund for loss and damage was a historic step forward, providing financial support to developing nations who have been disproportionately affected by climate disasters. However, stronger commitments from developed nations to reduce emissions and invest in renewable energy are also crucial. The renewable energy revolution offers a solution to both reducing emissions and addressing energy crises exacerbated by climate change. At COP 29, progress was made in reducing tariffs on renewable energy technologies, which could open up a $1 trillion market for clean energy. However, it is important to recognize that renewable energy is not a one-size-fits-all solution and policies that foster global cooperation and facilitate access to affordable clean energy are necessary for a successful transition.
