CSTChanges are coming to student loans, an issue that has affected many Americans in recent years. The solutions have brought some control, but the reality is that with constant changes it is difficult to find a balance that leaves everyone satisfied. Donald Trump will make changes, many would expect him to work in a similar way to what he built in his first term as President of the United States, but everything seems to indicate that it will be different with some changes. On Joe Biden’s side he found consistency, but things started to explode with many educational debts that ended up getting bigger and bigger, and then Biden ended up forgiving them, the truth is that it was quite an achievement for his last months as president, as up to 5 million borrowers were canceled within a period of four years. Therefore, everything is in the hands of Donald Trump to get the United States out of the financial and educational crisis it is going through. He already has some plans up his sleeve to balance and resolve this situation that makes many uncomfortable. The changes that Donald Trump will make are a mystery, as it has not been a topic he has talked about much. The project they have for this year, with no official relationship with Trump, proposes a single payment plan based on income and eliminating debt forgiveness. Republicans want to change that too:Get rid of Biden’s SAVE plan: This plan lowers payments, controls interest and eventually forgives the debt, but Republicans want to eliminate it, saying it would save the government $127 billion over 10 years. Imagine if, in Super Mario Galaxy, they took away your ability to use the Luma stars to move forward; it would be much harder to get to the end.Eliminate PLUS loans for parents: These loans are for parents of undergraduate students.Stop giving PLUS loans to graduate students: Those studying for master’s degrees or doctorates.Eliminate deductions for student loan interest: Right now, you can deduct up to $2,500 a year in interest from your taxes. We’ll have to keep a close eye on any new developments in the future. Let’s hope it stays on the right track, because education in the United States is very important for young people.
