St. Charles Parish Public Schools has recently unveiled its first interactive, renewable energy learning lab at Norco Elementary School, thanks to a partnership with Shell Norco. This makes Norco Elementary the first school in the district to benefit from this cutting-edge renewable energy program.
The solar project, which includes an on-site solar grid and a solar lab with learning dashboards, will provide power to the school and potentially generate financial benefits by selling unused energy back to Entergy. The project, which cost $720,000, will be offset by tax benefits and government rebates over its 20-year lifespan.
Not only will this project reduce energy costs for the school, but it will also expose students to potential career paths in the green energy sector. John Rome, Assistant Superintendent of Operations at St. Charles Parish Public School board, believes that this project is a win-win for everyone involved.
The solar project at Norco Elementary School is a great example of how partnerships between schools and companies can benefit both the community and the environment. By providing students with hands-on experience and exposure to renewable energy resources, this project has the potential to shape the future of the green energy sector.
