Kenan Foundation Asia, a non-profit organization, recently organized a conference in collaboration with various public and private sector partners. The conference, titled “Building AI and Green Skills for a Sustainable Workforce”, aimed to address the policy gaps and practical challenges in integrating AI and green skills into education, training, and workforce development programs in Thailand.

The conference was held in line with Thailand’s Vision 2030, also known as “Ignite Thailand”, which aims to make the country a leader in the region in industries such as digital economy, future mobility, and agriculture. To achieve this vision, Thailand plans to leverage its natural resources, tourist attractions, and the potential of its people. With the increasing use of AI in businesses and the growing importance of green practices, having a workforce equipped with the right skills is crucial for sustainable growth and attracting investment.

The conference brought together government agencies, private sector organizations, educational institutions, and scholars from both local and international backgrounds to discuss the importance of AI and green skills in the workforce. The event was graced by H.E. Mr. Robert F. Godec, Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand, who delivered the opening remarks on “Opportunities to Accelerate Workforce Development through Public-Private Collaboration.” Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Chairman of Thailand Science Research and Innovation, gave a keynote address on “Empowering Tomorrow: Equipping the STEM Workforce with Essential AI and Green Competencies”.

The conference also showcased local and global best practices in integrating AI and green skills into the education system. It emphasized the need for collaboration between governments, businesses, and civil society to leverage resources and expertise. The event also highlighted the importance of fostering innovative solutions and sustainable initiatives that enhance youth employability and economic growth.
