The winners of the VII BRICS Young Innovator Prize were announced at the IV Young Scientists Congress at the Sirius University of Science and Technology. The winners of the 7th BRICS Young Innovator Prize were announced at the 4th Young Scientists Congress held at Sirius University of Science and Technology. The participants focused on projects involving the use of artificial intelligence and green technologies in various industries such as chemical, food, and agriculture. A separate category, “Palladium in Future Technologies,” was also included in the research selection process.

After careful deliberation, the international jury selected three winners. The first place was awarded to Professor Thiago Edwiges from the Federal University of Technology of Parana in Brazil. His project tackled the issue of waste management in sugar cane processing by proposing a solution that utilizes solid and liquid materials to produce a fuel mixture of methane and hydrogen.

Second place was awarded to Professor Yuan Wu from the University of Science and Technology of China for his project on a new material that can be used in the rubber industry. This innovative technology aims to reduce the use of zinc oxide in the production of rubber products, including tires, making them more environmentally friendly.

The third place was taken by Dmitry Shadrin from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) in Russia. His project focused on developing a digital system for natural fire prevention using an updated geographical grid, weather forecast data, and artificial intelligence. It is estimated that this system can achieve an accuracy rate of 85%.

In a special category, Xin Cai from Tongji University in Shanghai, China, was recognized for his research on nanopowders containing palladium. These catalysts are expected to make hydrogen energy more efficient and affordable for mass use.

This year, the Young Scientists Congress has attracted over 7,000 participants from more than 60 countries. The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
