Revolut, a leading fintech with more than 50 million customers globally and 10 million in the UK has announced the roll-out of In-App calls to personal customers, a new security measure to help customers uncover impersonation scams, and make contact between customer support and customers more reliable and safer.Impersonation scams are when someone pretends to be a bank, an authority or a trusted person and convinces their victim to send them money or share sensitive details, compromising the safety of their money. The number of impersonation scams affecting Revolut customers are now at their lowest level in nearly two years, even as the company’s customer base has grown by tens of millions of people.Despite this, the emotional and financial impact to those still affected can be devastating and so the company has been testing and developing In-App calls for a number of months, creating an app-native feature that criminals can’t replicate. It offers a secure method to speak to Revolut Customer Support, a call directly through the Revolut app.The company wants to make personal customers aware that the vast majority of calls being made from Revolut Customer Support to customers will be conducted in-app. In-app calls will also be coming to Revolut Business customers soon.Revolut’s Head of Financial Crime, Woody Malouf, said: “Impersonation scams can be a major hazard for many consumers. We know that the most effective way to stop a scam is to break the spell as fast as possible, before any money has been transferred. That’s why we are providing for our customers innovative solutions that help them uncover a scam quickly. The vast majority of our calls to individuals will be through our app, so if you receive an unplanned call regarding your personal account from somebody claiming to be Revolut, put the phone down and check through the app that they are who they say they are. Speaking to someone through our app means customers can be 100% sure they are talking to Revolut and not a fraudster.”Revolut is continuing to encourage customers in need of assistance to seek support via its chat function as it’s the most secure and fastest method for customers to speak to Customer Support.Companies In This Post
