US-based cloud banking solutions provider nCino has named its chief product officer (CPO) Sean Desmond as the company’s new CEO and president, effective immediately.Desmond promoted from CPO to CEO (Image: LinkedIn)Desmond, who will also be joining nCino’s board of directors, takes the company reigns from Pierre Naudé.Having led nCino for the past 13 years, Naudé will remain “actively involved in the company as executive chairman of the board to ensure a smooth transition”, according to a statement.Pamela Kilday, nCino’s lead independent director, noted that the incoming CEO’s “extensive knowledge of all key facets of our business, paired with his experience scaling large, multi-national organisations, and forward-thinking approach to product innovation through data and AI, will help nCino capture new market opportunities”.Desmond joined nCino in 2013 as chief customer success officer, before moving to CPO to oversee the company’s product development and engineering units in May last year. Across these two roles, he is said to have managed two-thirds of the company’s total workforce.Before joining nCino, he spent over 14 years at California-based fintech Informatica in several senior roles, including VP of the Americas and VP of global delivery.Chris Gufford, executive director and GM of nCino’s Commercial Banking solution, will succeed Desmond as CPO.
