US payments firm MoneyGram has appointed Luke Tuttle as its new chief technology officer (CTO), effective immediately.Luke Tuttle, MoneyGram’s new CTO (Image: MoneyGram)In his new position, Tuttle has been tasked with leading “product development and technology, overseeing engineering, platform operations, information security and emerging technologies like blockchain”, according to MoneyGram.Tuttle previously served as president and CTO at Multichannel Consulting and has held senior tech roles at the likes of Big Lots, Experian, and eBay.Notably, he also had two stints at Swedish BNPL giant Klarna, acting as VP of international product and head of special projects from 2016 to 2019, and returning for a year in 2021 as VP of engineering, leading marketing and ad solutions.The new CTO will report directly to chairman and CEO Anthony Soohoo, who joined MoneyGram last October.Soohoo says he expects Tuttle to “drive an ambitious and purposeful technology roadmap to simplify and scale our global payments network”.Founded in 1998, MoneyGram specialises in money transfers and cross-border P2P payments. It claims to process over $200 billion in cross-border payments annually, supporting more than 135 currencies and operating across 200 countries and territories.Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the company boasts a 2,000-strong workforce spread across 36 countries.Tuttle adds to a series of recent C-suite additions at the paytech, including Josh Gordon-Blake as chief digital officer (CDO) and Gary Ferrera as chief financial officer (CFO).
