Danish challenger bank Lunar has named former The Bank of London director Nanna Bergmann as the general manager for the firm’s recently launched payments infrastructure subsidiary, Moonrise.Nanna Bergmann to lead Lunar’s BaaS entity (Image: LinkedIn)Moonrise, previously Lunar’s Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) division, has formed over 15 partnerships to date, including collaborations with Trustly, Viva.com, and TrueLayer.Lunar spun off the unit last December, with CEO and founder Ken Villum Klausen explaining that by creating a separate entity “we can sharpen our focus on enterprise payments, scale faster, and ensure both Moonrise and our retail banking arm thrive independently”.The spin-off provides a “unified Nordic solution” which delivers clearing infrastructure for DKK, SEK and NOK payments, alongside features like safeguarding and corporate accounts, local Nordic IBANs, and alternative payment methods. Moonrise boasts a daily transaction volume run rate in excess of €5 billion.According to a Lunar statement, Bergmann’s appointment underscores the company’s “commitment to scaling its payments offering” and establishing Moonrise as a key “payments partner for regulated fintechs, PSPs and banks in the Nordics”.The incoming general manager previously held senior leadership roles at Arla Foods, Google UK, and Rensair, and is the founder of the non-profit Always Unicorns, launched in 2017.Prior to joining Moonrise, Bergmann spent over three years at The Bank of London, where she served as group director of strategy before advancing to group managing director of strategy, reputation and marketing.
