Bloomberg Law has identified the most impactful private equity transactions that “helped fuel Big Law in 2024,” with Latham advising on three of the five featured transactions, more than any other law firm. Latham’s number one position in these market-defining private equity transactions reinforces the firm’s standing as a global powerhouse for the most complex and sophisticated deals. The Bloomberg Law article, published on December 24, includes the following transactions on which Latham played a leading role:A London-led cross-border team advised existing owners EQT, CPP Investments, and Nord Anglia Education on the sale of Nord Anglia Education to a consortium formed by Neuberger Berman Private Markets, EQT, and CPP Investments, along with other global institutional investors, for an enterprise value of US$14.5 billion. This groundbreaking deal in the global education sector is one of the largest in Europe in 2024.
A New York-based private equity M&A team advised SRS Distribution, a leading distributor of residential roofing, landscaping, and pool products in the US, and formerly a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners and Berkshire Partners, in its US$18.25 billion acquisition by The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), the world’s largest home improvement retailer. The transaction is the fourth-largest US private equity exit ever (PitchBook).
A New York team represented the agents, arrangers, financing sources, and initial purchasers in financings totaling ~US$9.18 billion to support Stone Point Capital and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice’s acquisition of Truist Insurance Holdings, the fifth largest insurance brokerage in the US, from Truist. The landmark acquisition, valuing Truist Insurance Holdings at US$15.5 billion, is one of the largest take-private transactions of 2024.
