CSTFor the 19th consecutive year, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) has launched the “Awareness Day” campaign to provide tax relief to many families struggling with financial hardship. The financial organization estimates that one in five taxpayers do not make use of this financial support.This EITC program, which has 50 years of experience, has invited the general population to join this national effort to help reach workers eligible for the credit. The EITC has four ways to apply for this support.1) Online. Through the IRS.gov portal, where they will find interactive forms for free and independent use to file their annual income.2) Live chat (Support for your online procedure). It is a tool for taxpayers to prepare and file their state tax return for free.3) Free tax professional assistance. On the same tax portal, individuals can request in-person support from a certified public accountant, an enrolled agent or a trusted person without professional credentials who are enrolled in the Directory of Federal Tax Return Preparers.4) Volunteer help. The IRS validates independent support available nationwide to help low-income workers. These can be found in the VITA/TCE sections of the IRS website or by calling 800 906 9887.People with annual incomes below $25,511 a year without children or a maximum of $66,819 a year with three or more children.Be a U.S. citizen by birth or a resident for at least one year.Have a Social Security Number (SSN)File a tax return for the 2025 fiscal yearBy law, the IRS cannot issue EITC refunds before mid-February, so it is important to do so as soon as possible. If favorable, most refunds are expected to be available in bank accounts or debit cards by March 3 if direct deposit was chosen and there are no other issues with the tax return.As of December 2024, approximately 23 million workers and families had received a total of approximately $64 billion from the EITC.
