DSV, a global logistics company, has announced the opening of its first renewable energy assets at their warehouse facilities in Landskrona, Sweden. This marks a significant step towards DSV’s goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. The project not only reduces DSV’s own carbon footprint but also supports its customers’ goals and ambitions by providing decarbonised logistics solutions.
The new facilities in Landskrona feature over 100,000 square metres of rooftop solar panels, generating 14 MWp of energy. This is enough renewable energy to power the facilities, charge electric vehicles, and supply additional energy back to the local grid. By utilizing renewable energy, DSV is not only reducing its environmental impact but also aiding in the electrification of road haulage services, which is crucial for improving energy security and achieving its decarbonisation strategy.
The facilities in Landskrona are a testament to DSV’s commitment to reducing energy demand and dependence on fossil fuels. This is evident in the charging station infrastructure at the facilities, which will be used to charge electric trucks and vehicles. The new facilities, along with the recently opened 345,000 square metre logistics facilities in Horsens, will serve as a pilot project for future logistics infrastructure.
Anders Rousing, Vice President of Group Operational Sustainability at DSV, is optimistic about the positive impact of these renewable energy assets. He believes that they will not only provide critical insights but also help shape best practices for upcoming projects. The assets will be managed by DSV Energy, a division developed specifically to handle the company’s renewable energy program.
This milestone is a significant achievement for DSV and the logistics industry as a whole. By incorporating renewable energy into their operations, DSV is setting an example for other companies to follow. This move not only benefits the environment but also supports DSV’s customers in their sustainability efforts. With the launch of these renewable energy assets, DSV is taking a crucial step towards a decarbonised future.
