Zac Liew is stepping down as CEO and co-founder of Malaysian payments firm Curlec by Razorpay after eight years at the helm.Zac Liew departs Curlec by Razorpay (Image: LinkedIn)Launched in 2018, Curlec initially focused on bank-to-bank payments but has since expanded its recurring payment offerings to include billing, payouts, subscription management, and card payments.Under Liew’s leadership, the company was acquired in 2022 by India-based payment gateway provider Razorpay. The deal, which saw Curlec valued at around $20 million, marked Razorpay’s first international expansion into Southeast Asia.Shashank Kumar, managing director and co-founder of Razorpay, notes that Curlec now supports “over 3,000 local businesses”, and has further strengthened its industry position by joining PayNet.While a permanent successor has yet to be named, Razorpay’s VP and head of Southeast Asia, Angad Dhindsa, will serve as interim head.Liew, a former business analyst at Barclays, has not disclosed what his next venture will be.
